August was a sleepy month. Pageviews, Visits, and Unique Visitors all dropped slightly from July to 25,500, 12,500, and 5,100. I chalk that up to a few factors: 1) July was huge, 2) the telecom world goes on vacation in August, and 3) sector news was light, on account of 2). Hopefully things will pick up again after Labor Day. In defiance of this slowdown, ranking relative to peers continued to advance – which implies that August is just sleepy and that’s all there is to it.
But a sleepy month doesn’t mean Telecom Ramblings made no progress. In a notable achievement last week, this blog and its author were quoted in the NY Times about the XO and Icahn epic. That one came out of the blue, I wouldn’t be surprised if nobody else gives me a call for the rest of the year. I also, as of last night, have finally resolved the CAPTCHA issues, and will no longer be making people figure out those hard to read letters when they want to post. I am using an alternative system (the details of which you really don’t want to know) in conjunction with the Akismet plugin that should be enough for now – if spambots get around it, I’ll worry about it then.
So, on to new things. I have a poll for regular readers to help me decide what new features I might try out:
